Dietary fats are large molecules that need to be broken down before they can be absorbed into the body. They are broken down by enzymes called lipases. That is, lipases play an important role in the digestion of dietary fat. When taken with a meal, Xenical interferes with the activity of these enzymes. This allows about 30% of the fat eaten in the meal to pass through the gut undigested. Therefore, your body cannot store these excess calories as fatty tissue or use them as a source of energy. This helps you to reduce your weight by burning up fat that you are already carrying, maintain your lower weight and minimise any weight regain. Losing even small amounts of weight and keeping it off produces additional health benefits for you, especially when you are at risk for other diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. Xenical can also help to improve risk factors, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high blood sugar. If these are not treated, they could lead to other diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. Xenical should be taken in conjunction with a well-balanced calorie-controlled diet and other appropriate measures such as exercise.Active Ingredients:Xenical does not contain sucrose, gluten, tartrazine or any other azo dyes. The new drug, Xenical, is being prescribed to people who have been prescribed the drug, along with the active ingredient fenfluramine, by doctors for long-term follow-up after taking it for a year.
The study, which was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, was done in the journal Obesity and Cardiovascular Risk, as part of the study that was done to assess the long-term safety of the drug.
The researchers found that the drug reduced the risk of type 2 diabetes by 27%, compared to a placebo, which was the result of no significant difference. They also found that the drug led to fewer hospitalizations for the heart attack or death. The drug also improved the risk of coronary artery disease in people who took the drug.
The study was supported by the National Institutes of Health and the Obesity and Cardiovascular Risk Collaborative.
"This is the first clinical study to test the efficacy of a new drug to reduce the risk of heart attack or death in patients who have taken it for longer than six months," said senior author Dr. Steven Galson, M. D., associate director of the Obesity and Cardiovascular Risk Collaborative in the National Institute on Aging, in a statement.
Galson said the results were "an unexpected finding" that "we hope to advance the field of pharmaceuticals and diabetes prevention and treatment for many" and "provide hope for those who will benefit most from these findings."
The new drug is being developed by a company called Merck & Co., which is based in New York.
Galson said the company also plans to fund a trial that will test the effect of the drug on people with type 2 diabetes, including those who had been taking it for a year.
"The results of this study are expected to be published in the next few weeks," Galson said.
A study in the New England Journal of Medicine, the journal that is also being conducted by Galson and Merck, was published in February. The drug, called Xenical, will be marketed by Merck.Galson said the drug has been approved by the FDA for long-term treatment of type 2 diabetes. "These data will help us understand how effective it is in reducing blood sugar and in improving cardiovascular health," he said.
The study is supported by the National Institutes of Health and the Obesity and Cardiovascular Risk Collaborative.
The drug is available by prescription only. The study, which involved more than 50,000 people, involved taking Xenical by mouth three times a day for six months. The drug is also available by prescription only. The drug has been approved by the FDA for long-term treatment of type 2 diabetes.
The researchers have found that the drug does not cause an increase in the risk of heart attack or death, the researchers wrote in a paper in the journal Obesity and Cardiovascular Risk.
"We also know that this drug can improve the quality of life of people who have taken it for more than a year. We don't have sufficient data to say that it's effective," said Dr. Galson, who led the study and also led the work that was done in the journal. "However, I'm sure the results of the study will help us understand how effective the drug is in reducing the risk of heart attack or death in people who have taken it for longer than six months."
In the study, researchers did not see significant differences in the risk of heart attack or death between people who took the drug and those who took a placebo. They also did not see a decrease in the risk of coronary artery disease, a condition that causes heart attacks and strokes.
The drug is also available by prescription only, the researchers said. They also said the drugs have not been approved by the FDA for long-term treatment of type 2 diabetes.
Galson said Merck was the drug company that developed the study. The company also is in the process of financing a trial that will test the drug on people with type 2 diabetes.
The drug is being tested to test its long-term effects on the heart and blood vessels of people with type 2 diabetes.
In a statement, Galson said the drug has been approved by the FDA for long-term treatment of type 2 diabetes.
